You can use the WillItLag diagnostic tool without creating an account — we do not ask for your name, email, or phone number. However, when you visit the site we automatically collect certain Usage Data, including:

• IP address and approximate geographic region
• Browser type, version, and language
• Device type, operating system, and screen size
• Pages visited, referring URL, and time spent on each page
• Diagnostic inputs you submit (selected hardware, game searches) — used to return results and improve the engine

2. Cookies and similar technologies

WillItLag uses cookies, local storage, and web beacons to:

• Remember your saved rig, chosen language, and cookie-notice acceptance (functional)
• Measure site traffic and understand how visitors use the tool (analytics)
• Serve and measure advertising through Google AdSense (advertising)

You can disable cookies in your browser settings. Doing so may prevent parts of the site from working correctly.

3. Advertising & Google AdSense

Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to this website or other websites. 4. Third-party services

We use the public IGDB (Twitch) API to fetch game metadata and system requirements. Game search terms are transmitted to Twitch/IGDB to return results.

Outbound links to Amazon (used for hardware upgrade suggestions) are affiliate links. Once you click, Amazon's own privacy policy applies.

5. How we use your data

• To operate and improve the diagnostic engine
• To detect abuse, bots, and security threats
• To measure aggregate traffic and content performance
• To display relevant advertising through approved ad networks

6. Data retention

Usage logs are retained for a limited period necessary for analytics and security (typically no more than 12 months). Saved rig data lives only in your browser's local storage until you clear it.

7. Your rights (GDPR / CCPA)

8. Children's privacy

WillItLag is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
